WWE WRESTLING LEGEND SLITHERS INTO WINDSOR AS LATEST GUEST
Born in Gainesville, Texas, as Aurelian Smith Jr. Jake Roberts is a semi-retired professional wrestler. While developing his persona, Roberts would often bring snakes in the ring, most famously a python named Damien as a means of intimidation and fear. He first began wrestling for various promotions in the South and tasting success in 1983, winning the National Wrestling Alliance World Television Championship. Roberts would soon take his talents and his patented DDT finisher to the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment) where he wrestled from 1986 to 1992 and again from 1996 to 1997. Roberts became known for his intense and cerebral promos, his dark charisma and the extensive use of psychology in his matches. His signature DDT finisher would go on to be named the “coolest” maneuver of all time by the WWE and he has been credited as the creator. On April 5, 2014, he was officially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Today, Roberts tours the globe meeting fans and speaking about his experiences in and out of the ring.
“The Jake “The Snake” Roberts story is a fascinating tale of huge success and then resurrection thanks to fantastic friends and family,” says ComiCon General Manager, Colin Douglas. “It is a great pleasure to have him attend Windsor ComiCon so all wrestling fans can come and celebrate his legacy.”
